WHY DO YOU ADVISE 'MIX ME BEFORE USE'?
Sometimes a jar will have visible separation (a layer of oil on top). I could avoid this using tonnes of additives - but no need. Just get in there with a fork and give the nut butter a proper twist and shout. That'll sort it out.
WHY IS NUTCESSITY NUT BUTTER SOMETIMES RUNNY; SOMETIMES SOLID?
This depends on the temperature. A warm room will melt the natural coconut oils, whilst a ski slope will keep them solid - I'd suggest you keep it at room temperature if possible.
BUT IT’S TOTALLY SOLID! IT'S FEBRUARY AND I CAN’T SPREAD IT!
Mmmm.. I realise how irritating this is when all you want to do is spread on toast! This is simply the natural fat from the coconut ‘setting’ at a cool temperature. Put the jar in a little bowl, pour warm water round the jars’ edges and leave for 3 minutes - then the edges of the nut butter will be easy to spread. Or… scythe a chunk off & melt onto porridge :)
HOW DO YOU PACKAGE THE JARS WHEN POSTING?
In used newspaper (thanks Grandma) and used, branded cardboard boxes... so there may be random writing / logos present. Some are from non-vegan brands; but rest assured these are not from my own home.
DO YOUR PRODUCTS HAVE A SHELF LIFE?
Nutcessity nut butter is best before 9 months from the date of production. Once opened, it's best used within 3 months, stored in a cool, dry & dark place if possible. No need for the fridge.
I CARE ABOUT MY ENVIRONMENT. DO YOU?
Nutcessity considers the environment throughout the business model. Although each label contains small amounts of polypropelene, plastic is omitted wherever possible:
Paper bags are given at markets / Bamboo spatulas are used for sampling, with organic rice/corn cakes to compliment / We encourage recycling with imagery on case boxes & on the jar / We use glass jars rather than plastic / Online orders are packed in used-cardboard, bubble-wrap or newspapers.
Once more, each product is Soil Association organic certified, meaning environmentally-damaging pesticides are omitted in the supply-chain.
DO YOUR NUT BUTTERS CONTAIN ANY GENETICALLY MODIFIED INGREDIENTS?
ARE YOUR JARS FREE-FROM ALLERGENS?
Nutcessity's recipes are free from all allergens (including peanuts; except nuts) and produced in a kitchen free from any allergens (including peanuts; except nuts)! However, the wholesalers I use do have peanuts, gluten & other allergens within their warehouses and packing facilities. For this reason, it can’t be 100% guaranteed that Nutcessity’s nut butters are allergen-free. In the interests of safety, it is not recommended that Nutcessity’s products are given to those individuals with allergies; even when the risk of cross-contamination is especially small.

WHY DO YOU USE PINK HIMALAYAN SALT?
This unrefined crystal salt contains the full complement of 84 minerals and trace elements the body needs in colloidal form, so they're easy to absorb. It’s also very tasty, and not much is needed.
The fruit of this evergreen shrub is called the pod (similar in appearance to a broad bean pod) which is dried, roasted, then ground into a light brown powder. It's used in food as an alternate to cacao - similar in appearance, but without the caffeine or bitterness. The organic Carob Nutcessity uses is from Italy and has an earthy, natural sweetness, plus calcium, fibre & vitamins.
PEANUTS...AREN'T THEY THE SAME THING AS NUTS?
Actually, no. Peanuts (groundnuts), aren't nuts at all, but legumes - closely related to chickpeas or lentils.
